Children love to ride the train and are welcome on these trips.  Just know that they must be accompanied by an adult to be able to ride the train.

There is a Classic Coach which may be the one that you want to ride.  It is a restored 1913 Rutland Railcar.  This is a wooden coach with higher windows and high back upholstered seats.  It is believed to be the oldest standard gauge passenger car still in active revenue service in New England.

There are narrators on each of the trains that will give you the story of the area that you are traveling through.  If you have questions they will do their best to answer them.

It is recommended that you arrive approximately one half hour before the train departs.  In the fall you may want to arrive a little earlier since this time of year is very busy.  Although you don’t need reservations, except for large groups, it is a good idea to be there early enough to assure yourself a seat.  Then you can enjoy the beautiful trees and scenery as the train goes on its trip.
