The Vermont Teddy Bear Company is a Great Place to Tour. Vermont is filled with a variety of fun things to do. You can find one of the most popular and entertaining attractions located just south of the town of Shelburne, and on the eastern side of Lake Champlain. Both kids and grown ups will have a great time at the factory.
The Vermont Teddy Bear Company offers factory tours so visitors can see just what goes into creating some of the most popular stuffed animals in the country. The tour of the factory takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half, but you might also want to allocate some time to get a bite to eat, grab something to drink, and go shopping.
The first stop on the factory tour is the cutting station, where the different fur pieces that make up the bears are cut into shape. Next, you will get to see the sewing station, where they begin to craft the pieces of fur into recognizable shapes.
After the sewing, the "Bear Bones" are added. They allow the bears to be posed in different positions, and then they stuff the body full of fluff, which makes them cuddly for folks of all ages.
Of course, no visit to the factory would be complete without heading to the Bear Shop to pick out a stuffed toy for yourself or a loved one. You will be able to find a bear that suits just about any person and any occasion.
From sports bears and get well bears, to bears for Valentine's Day and anniversaries, you will find that you need. They even have a variety of bears for peoples' occupations and can do custom bears if you want something extra special!
If you get hungry, you can visit the Hungry Bear Café, which serves breakfast, lunch, and snacks. In the summer, there is also a food kiosk located outdoors along with some picnic tables.
The factory is open seven days a week throughout the year. During the Summer Season, from July 1 to October 25, the factory hours are 9:30AM to 5PM. During the Winter Season, from October 26 through June 30, the tour hours are 10AM to 4PM. Admission to the factory is $2 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
The motto of the company is that they are the "Creative Alternative to Flowers," and after visiting the factory, you will certainly agree.
